Composition Contrast and Color - Winter 2024
In this class we'll focus on using shapes and value contrast, as opposed to line drawings, to compose the landscape. Through exercises, and techniques such as point of view, thumbnails, and cropping, we'll learn how to recognize and create strong compositions, both from photographs, and from life. We'll review our own past paintings for composition improvements, and we'll create compositions from multiple photos and imagination. We'll also explore the difference between a double primary palette and a limited palette to create finished paintings from our compositions.
